Order Management System (OMS)

Your logic, on the platform, with everything else. An OMS that runs your process, not ours. Full lifecycle tracking, configurable workflows, and seamless integration into your investment data.

The Industry Challenge

Orders pass through more hands and more systems than any other part of the investment workflow. Between intent and settlement there is portfolio construction, compliance, execution, allocation and post-trade, and each boundary is a place where context is lost and work is repeated.

How FINBOURNE helps

Your process, not a standard one. Order generation logic that lives in a spreadsheet usually lives there because no system would take it on. Ours will. Pairing rules, custom hedge ratios, house rebalancing logic and managed account allocation can be configured on the platform and run automatically.

Full order lifecycle support

Create, split, block and allocate orders, with order data tracked end to end across the full lifecycle.

Approvals that match the trade

Configure approval steps on order release, with four-eyes checks triggered by order size, trading market or any attribute you choose, so a small routine order and a large one in an unfamiliar market do not follow the same path.

Order history you can interrogate

Every order carries its own history at attribute level. What state it was in, what changed it, when, and what the position looked like before and after. The same trade record flows from order through execution to position. When someone asks about an order from six months ago, the answer is in the record itself.

Connectivity certified for your desk

Route orders to brokers and execution venues through electronic protocols including FIX, with new counterparties onboarded on request. Trades executed outside the platform flow back in automatically. FINBOURNE works alongside your EMS and other desktop tools, passing context between them so your traders stay in one workflow rather than switching between disconnected screens.

Features

01

OMS core

Full order and trade lifecycle support including fee calculations, multi-desk routing, and trading preferences.

02

Live trade blotter

Firm-wide or by-desk view of all trade activity, with entitlements controlling what each team sees. Dashboards update continuously with configurable alerts.

03

Pre-trade compliance

Integrated compliance checks before execution, using rules from the same platform. No separate compliance system required.

04

Post-trade processing

Tailored workflows promoting collaboration between front office and downstream teams with actionable notifications.

AI

Agents draft, people approve. An agent can flag unusual order flow, prepare an allocation or assemble a post-trade exception for review, and every action it proposes passes through the same approval workflow and entitlements as a human's would, with a full record of what it did and why.

Client stories

Asset owners

Mutual life insurer, first in-house OMS across six asset classes

A mutual life insurer traded entirely through broker communications, with no order management system of its own and 30 compliance rules checked by hand after the fact. FINBOURNE’s OMS gave the firm its first in-house order management capability, covering fixed income, equities, funds, money market, FX and derivatives. Those 30 checks will run automatically before execution rather than manually afterwards, and orders flow straight into the IBOR on the same platform.

Asset managers

Convertible bond arbitrage fund, OMS replacing legacy system

A mid-sized convertible bond arbitrage fund had run a legacy system for over a decade. Its order generation depended on a bespoke spreadsheet pairing fixed income risk data with equity hedge positions, logic the firm had kept outside its OMS because no platform it had evaluated could take it on. FINBOURNE now runs the OMS alongside PMS and fund accounting, with the rebalancer executing the pairing logic directly and managed account allocation automated.

Hedge funds

Distressed credit fund, OMS for illiquid instruments

A distressed credit hedge fund needed order management that could handle bonds, loans, and positions with no active market as first-class instruments rather than exceptions requiring workarounds. FINBOURNE’s OMS was deployed as part of a broader platform replacement, covering trade management across the full instrument universe including distressed and restructured securities.

Questions we hear from trading and operations teams

How are other firms getting bespoke rebalancing logic off spreadsheets and onto the platform?

FINBOURNE’s rebalancing algorithms are configurable rather than fixed. Pairing rules, custom hedge ratios, house rebalancing logic, and managed account allocation can be defined on the platform and run automatically, using the same logic the spreadsheet encoded.

What does a full audit trail look like for an order from six months ago?

Every order carries its own history at attribute level: what state it was in, what changed it, when, and the position before and after. The same trade record flows from order through execution to position, so the answer is in the record itself.

How do I keep positions in step with orders without a manual reconciliation step?

Orders and positions are derived from the same trade record. When an order is executed and allocated, the position reflects it immediately. There is no separate position system to reconcile against.

How do firms keep a complete book when some trades are executed outside the OMS?

Trades executed externally flow back into the platform automatically through electronic protocols including FIX drop-copy. The book reflects all activity whether it originated inside or outside the OMS.

Can an AI agent generate orders using the same rules a portfolio manager would?

Yes. The rebalance agent applies the same configurable rebalancing logic as a human, generating orders that pass through the same approval workflow and entitlements. Every action is recorded and auditable.
